Maintain peace post Ayodhya verdict: DC

A total of 1117 security staff have been deputed in the district to maintain law and order.
As many as 3 KSRP and 7 District Reserve Police platoons will be deputed in the district.

 Prohibitory order has been imposed in the district under Section 144. Sale of petroleum in excessive quantity and sale of crackers has been banned.

“Police will keep an eye on religious goons. These trouble makers can be arrested by the police anytime if need arises. Religious leaders will have to be in constant touch with the police and the district administration,” said the DC.

Rounds

After 3 pm, both the DC and the SP will be taking rounds in the city. DySP and Tahshildars will be patrolling at the taluk-level. This step has been taken with the aim of having direct contact with the people and to avert any untoward incidents.

SMS service will be blocked from 2 pm to 8 pm on Thursday. Bulk messaging will be blocked from Wednesday midnight itself.

Video camera will be installed at all major temples and mosques. Screening of films in theatres has been banned from Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile a peace meeting was convened at DC’s office on Thursday in presence of DC, SP and representatives of Andechathra masjid and Ram Mandir. Former minister Sagheer Ahmed, leader Athiq Khaiser, Mohammed, CDA President Srikanth Pai, VHP Working President Sudheer among others were present.
