Five die, five injured in bus-car collision

The deceased have been identified as Joseph (40), the driver of the car, Paravathamma (40), Parimala (30), Sneha (8) and Ashu (6), all from Malur.  

According to the police, the KSRTC bus from Bangalore was going towards Hassan, while the car was coming from Kunigal towards Bangalore, when the mishap occurred.

Police said that the  collision occurred due to the negligence of the bus driver as he was driving the bus on right side at a high speed. Five of them died on the spot, while five others injured have been rushed to NIMHANS, Bangalore,” the police said. The driver of the bus is absconding.

SI dies of heart attack

A sub-inspector, Siddalinga Murthy (56) attached to Rajarajeshwarinagar police station, died of cardiac arrest on Saturday. According to police, Murthy (56) complained of chest pain and was rushed to the BGS Hospital at around 4 am where he was declared brought dead. The resident of Brindavan Nagar police layout, he is survived by wife and
two children.

 Five held for burglary

The Vijayanagar police arrested five persons in connection with theft in a house and recovered Rs 2.42 lakh in cash and jewellery, two cameras and other valuables worth Rs eight lakh.

The suspects are Naveen Kumar, Ramu, Karthik, Jagadish and Manoj from Magadi Road. They are suspected to have burgled the house at RPC Layout, recently when the house owner and his family were away from the City.

One arrested

The K S Layout police arrested Fayaz (22), a resident of Subramanyapura, in connection with series of assault cases, on Friday.  According to police, Fairoz Pasha, his brother Fayaz Pasha and friend Madhu allegedly attacked Shibedra Shahi, Aravind Lagishetty and Abhijith Shah over a petty issue near a private lodge near Sarakki on July 12. Fairoz allegedly stabbed Aravind Lagishetty, who sustained severe injuries. In another incident, the Pasha brothers had also attacked a club manager near R K Bar at Kadirenahalli circle in K S Layout over a trivial issue on August 23 and had fled.   The police arrested Fayaz but Fairoz is still at large.
