This film is based on best-selling author Elizabeth Gilbert’s memoirs. Julia Roberts essays the role Gilbert who thinks she is trapped in a bad marriage. She tries hard to be happy but ends up with an affair and a broken marriage. So, she leaves the US and goes to Italy, India and Bali with the hope of rediscovering her taste — from food to men — again.

As usual, Roberts is sensuous, natural and perfectly fits into Gilbert’s shoes. Her co-star Javier Bardem looks a typical Brazilian guy. He is funny besides being an open book.

The real-life-based flick also sports some of the best tourist destinations in the world — Italy for food, India for spiritual tourism and Bali for beach entertainment.

This middle-age drama is a convincing portrayal of what women really want. Sad and funny mixed together, we get a realistic story which actually turns out to be quite entertaining.
