Imagine, there was Lennon!

Popular search engine Google replaced its logo with a 32-second video doodle that plays to Lennon's iconic song with visuals of psychedelic designs in black and white. Lennon, who dreamt of a conflict-free world, would have been dismayed at the turmoil today, says Yoko.

"He would have felt like he wanted to run somewhere and just bang something or strangle someone, you know? But then I think, I'm sure he would have relaxed and decided he should still be an activist. We need to really do something about the world. Otherwise, we're all going to blow up together," Yoko says.

Born on October 9, 1940, Lennon was gunned down by a crazy fan outside his New York apartment on December 8, 1980. The assassin, Mark Chapman, said 10 years later that by killing the ex-Beatle he had murdered an age of innocence.

The Beatles had a strong India connection. In 1968, Lennon and George Harrison and their wives flew to India and stayed at the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in Rishikesh.

Lennon wrote 'India, India' in the late 1970s for a musical based on the visit. Meanwhile, tweets and wishes have flooded the Lennon and Beatles' fan sites. "Let's tweet a million wishes for peace for John's birthday!" Yoko had requested.

The lighting of the Imagine Peace Tower by Yoko in memory of Lennon was another unique celebration today. "I hope the peace tower will give light to the strong wishes of world peace from all corners of the planet and give encouragement, inspiration and a sense of solidarity in a world now filled with fear and confusion," says Yoko.

The John Lennon Signature Box is an 11 CD and digital set featuring all eight digitally remastered solo studio albums, a disc of 13 previously unreleased home tapes and studio outtakes, an EP of the non-album singles and B-sides, a 60 page book celebrating John's life and solo career with liner notes by music journalist and author, Anthony DeCurtis, a 70th birthday art print of one of John's drawings and personal essays written by wife Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon and Julian Lennon especially for this lavish collection.
