7 killed two accidents

Hruthik (9) of J C Extension and Saraswathamma (60) of Andhra Pradesh were killed as a private bus rammed into a two-wheeler atop Chamundi Hills in Mysore. The bus later turned turtle injuring 32 passengers.

Members of a women self-help group from Andhra Pradesh had come to Chamundi Hills by the private bus. The accident occurred while the bus was heading to Mysore. Hruthik was riding pillion and died on the spot. Saraswathamma, a passenger in the bus succumbed to injuries in the hospital. The injured have been admitted to K R Hospital, JSS, Apollo and Vikram hospitals.

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa visited the hospitals and handed over cheques of Rs two lakh as ex gratia to the family of the deceased.

Three of a family

In another incident near Hirisave, Hassan district, five persons were killed and six sustained injuries as a four-wheeler rammed into a bike on National Highway-48.

Srinivas (33), his wife Kavita (30) and their son Utsav (4) of Mayasandra were heading to Holenarasipur on their bike when a multi-utility vehicle rammed into them from opposite direction. All the three were killed on the spot. Raghu (33) and Ningaraju (30) who were travelling by the MUV died at the hospital. There were eight passengers in the four-wheeler.

The injured have been admitted to hospital. The condition of the driver is stated to be critical. Cases have been registered.
