The district administration has not provided any facilities at the shrine to attract visitors.

This tank is spread on 500 acres and a majority of tank bed has been encroached by the vested interests.

A number of tourists visit the place when the tank is full. The mythologically famous Maradigudda is also located behind this tank. People believe that Lord Mahadeshwara lived at Maradigudda for some years.

Everyday thousands of tourists visit Gaganachukki falls, Gundal reservoir, Maradigudda, Kurabanakatte Srikshetra, Malemahadeshwara Hills, Uduthore reservoir, Shivanasamudra,Hogenakkal and other places located in the taluk. There is a scope for development of this tank as a tourist spot. Presently, the water is being used for irrigation.
The tank is ideal for water sports and amusement parks to attract tourists.

Assistant Commissioner A B Basavaraju told Deccan Herald that the government is keen to develop this tank as a tourist spot. The developmental works are being delayed due to paucity of funds. An action plan will be prepared for the improvement of this tank and works would start after mobilisation of resources.  Meanwhile, people have urged the people’s representatives to pressurise the district administration for the development of this tank.
