JOIN USThe actress and her husband, who is a bank employee in Kuwait, turned up at the family court in Ernakulam and informed the court that they wanted to separate.
The couple were married in December 2008 following which Kavya left for Kuwait with her husband in February 2009.
However, she returned home in June that year and did not go back thereafter. Accusations of physical and mental harassment and counter allegations by Nishal’s family were rife for sometime.
The divorce was mediated by friends on both sides after the actress filed a dowry harassment complaint against Nishal and his family members recently. Subsequently, Nishal moved the high court praying that the FIR be quashed since conciliatory moves were on.
Though the court rejected the request, it asked the police not to arrest Nishal for a week to allow out-of-court settlement. Kavya will withdraw the two complaints filed against Nishal and his family as part of the settlement.
