In the meantime, BJP councillors have demanded a probe by deputy commissioner. They alleged that CMC passed a resolution on June 30 and floated tender to take up this ‘useless’ worth without discussing the issue in the meeting. No citizen will walk on this drain and spending Rs 91 lakh on the slabs is nothing but a sheer waste of tax payer’s money. The BJP and Congress alleged that Janatha Trust,a multi-floor complex is coming up behind this bid drain and that was the reason for laying the slabs. The trust is controlled by
Janata Dal (Secular) activists and the District Unit is likely to be shifted to the new building.
The trust which is headed by former ZP president, C N Balakrishna, had borrowed Rs 15 crore loan to construct the building. The opposition parties have smelt the rate and urged the district administration to stop the work immediately. That work is absolutely not necessary.

No connection

Janatha Trust Member  and former Rajya Sabha member H K Javaregowda told Deccan Herald that there is no connection between Janatha Trust and the proposed work by the CMC.

The trust is formed to take up social work and to help students.  A museum will come up in the building to highlight the achievements of former prime minister, H D Deve Gowda.
