'Defection, is mark of disrespect to democracy'

He told reporters that MLAs should remain in the same party for at least five years. “It is not proper to quit the party. It will be disrespect to people and the democracy,” he said in reply to a question whether the ‘Operation Lotus’ has come in the way of the Cabinet expansion.

On the Cabinet expansion, the chief minister said nothing has been decided on it yet.
“The Cabinet expansion is necessary. I will soon take a decision in this regard after holding a discussion with the party leaders,” he stated.

Asked whether the Government will convene a special Legislature session to discuss scams, he said an appropriate decision will be taken depending on how the Opposition parties behave.

Yeddyurappa refused to comment on I-T raids on mining lords of the ruling party in the State.
