The couple is scheduled to tie the knot on Friday, October 29 at Alva’s residence. This will be followed by a grand reception at the ITC Grand Maratha Hotel in Mumbai on October 30 where the who’s who of Bollywood are expected to attend and bless the newly-weds.

The Bollywood actor and groom, Vivek Oberoi and the baraatis are staying at the Chancery Pavilion here, where 40 rooms have been booked. All the pre-wedding functions and the wedding will be held at Alva’s residence. The wedding functions began on the auspicious day of Karva Chauth on Tuesday, October 27 followed by the Upanayana ceremony of Aditya Alva, younger brother of the bride on Wednesday, October 28.

The ceremony is a Sindhi tradition, but was celebrated in traditional South Indian manner. The women were dressed in white and gold sarees and the men adorned dhotis and the spread was typical South Indian delicacies. In the late evening youngsters party was held where stand up comedian Papa CJ did a surprise act. On Wednesday evening, the Alva’s farmhouse in the City was decked up to receive guests and well-wishers to attend the small but high profile ceremony. Heavy security was found on the outside of the massive expanse of farmland off outer ring road.

 The streets of Mariannanpalya were lit up to receive and indicate the grand wedding. Placards indicating the Alvas’ farm land and ceremonial venue were placed on the roads leading to their home.

A two-tier security with passes only for the family members and close friends were already provided prior to the occasion. According to the security personnel, all the high profile Bollywood stars, except for a few close friends, and other visitors were to arrive over the next two days.

It is learnt that as many as 280 cabs ranging from Mercedez to Audis and Skodas were being provided by a single service provider from the City. “The pick up and dropping of guests are being done from door-to-door for the invitees,” informed a source.

A few other stars from the filmdom and other guests from across the country and outside are expected to stream-in on Thursday early morning.
