KSHRC recommends suspension of two cops

The KSHRC chairman Justice S R Nayak observed that Kemparaju, SI and Chandru the inspector attached to Nandini Layout police station failed to prevent the marriage of Anand, who managed to have physical contact with Priyanka promising her to marry, but failed to keep up his promise.

Disciplinary action

Justice Nayak also directed the Home Department to initiate disciplinary action against the two besides slapping a fine of  Rs one lakh to be given to the victim, Priyanka, within a month to be recovered by the salary of the two SIs.

Compliance report

He also instructed the Department to submit a compliance report within a month from the date of receipt of the notice. Anand and Priyanka had an affair.

He allegedly lured her to have sex with him promising to marry her. However, he refused to marry her after she became pregnant and decided to marry another woman.

She approached the Nandini Layout police urging for steps against Anand and prevent his marriage.  The police failed in their efforts as Anand managed to marry another woman, Priyanka had said in a complaint with the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission.
