The team, headed by Union Joint Secretary Home (Kashmir) K Skandan inspected the facilities at Salamabad, 105 kms from here, for trade and travel between Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad route, officials said.
The team visited the site proposed to be acquired for extension of the trade facilitation centre at Salamabad, they said.
They said the land owners of the proposed site raised protest against the acquisition. A group of traders also submitted a letter to the Central team in which they highlighted their demands for improving the cross-LoC trade, they added.
Among the demands of the traders are setting up of godowns, residential facility for traders, banking and telecommunication facilities, setting up of a weighing bridge and improvement of the 14-km road from Salamabad to Kaman Post on LoC, they said.
Skandan and other officials are on a visit to the state during which they will take stock of the cross-LoC trade and travel between the divided parts of the state on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad and Poonch-Rawalakote routes.
