Siddappa Pujari (67), a resident of Hulikatti who was suffering from fever succumbed on Thursday while Annappa Awate (58) admitted with minor injuries and Geeta Kabbur (26) of Bharamkhed with complaint of body pain, died on Friday.

All the three were treated at a private hospital at Budhwar Peth in the town on Tuesday by a doctor couple. They were administered intramuscular injections and swelling was noticed at the injected part. The family members then shifted the patients to Miraj hospital. They died during the course of treatment. Six more patients treated by the doctor couple are stated to be in serious condition and admitted at different hospitals in Athani and Miraj.

Taluk Health Officer Sanjay Dummagol said, the doctor-couple being ayurvedic and homoeopathic medicine practitioners, were not allowed to administer injections.
The doors of the clinic were broke open and it was found that the couple had illegally stocked allopathic medicines.

The couple are absconding since the news of death of first patient came to light on Thursday.
