'Maintain cleanliness to avoid malaria'

Speaking after distributing  prizes to the winners of debate competition held as part of Malaria control month at Government PU College, he said debate competition was organised to create an awareness on contagious diseases like Malaria. Malaria has claimed more than 3 lakh lives from 1903. In 2008, 48,000 people were affected with Malaria in the State. From January to June, 7,842 cases have been reported in the State.
Town Panchayat President B S Ashishkumar said a new tractor has been purchased for the disposal of the wastes. Tender has been invited for the garbage processing unit.

Directions have been given for the purchase of fogging machine. As many as 24 more dustbins will be kept in the town, he added.
