Addressing media in the city on Tuesday, president of the Committee and advocate C V Keshavmurthy alleged that the Mysore City Corporation (MCC) and Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) officers are blatantly issuing notices to the temples, hiding the facts.

According to the Court order that was first made on 29/9/09, it had clearly stated that henceforth no places of worships should come up in public places.

Three points

In case of the same structures constructed prior to the date of order, the authorities concerned should follow three points; first it must think over of clearing the place, second, relocating it and third and finally legalising the property, if found illegal.

Accordingly, the State Government filed a list of such 2,814 structures. Now, the district administration has identified 121 temples in the district, followed by about three to four structures belonging to other communities.

Notices

Both MCC and MUDA authorities have issued notices to the temples without pondering over the SC’s order.

According to them all the temples are illegal and will be issuing a final notice setting a deadline of five days to come out with a reply. “The irony here is, notices are pasted on the walls of the temples without bringing it to the notice of the concerned”, Keshavmurthy alleged.

Meeting

Taking all this into consideration, a meeting has been planned in front of Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple in the city on November 12 at 9.30 am. Honourary president of the Committee Ilai Alwar Swamiji and several others will be attending the meeting. It will be followed by a rally to DC’s office to apprise the officer of the reality.

Even then, if it remains a problem, the Committee will not hesitate to move same Court to convince it. Ilai Alwar Swamiji, Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) leaders M K Premkumar, Rajendra Babu, Ganesh and others were present.
