The case dates back to June 16 this year, when a body was recovered from the house of Azad Singh, a 1977 batch officer of Delhi Police. He was dismissed from service 2004 for anti-department activities, police said.

The victim, identified as Ganga, had multiple injuries on his head and body.
"Heera Lal, a security guard in the apartment block said that Azad Singh had thrashed Ganga. An FIR was registered, and search operations began," said Sharad Aggarwal, deputy commissioner of police (West).

Azad managed to evade his former colleagues close to six months. But his luck ran out earlier this month.

"We received an information that Azad Singh had an appointment with someone at Tikri Border, Haryana, on Nov 9. A trap was laid and he was finally caught," Aggarwal said.
Interrogation revealed that Ganga had served Azad for almost two decades. However, Azad resented his servant's "friendly" behaviour towards his wife. The couple also had numerous heated exchanges on the subject.

After one such argument with his wife June 15, Azad decided to murder Ganga. The next day, while his wife and kids were away, he stabbed Ganga to death.
"The knife has been recovered," Aggarwal said.
