Govt urged to withdraw CRZ draft notification

The draft notification continued to legitimize 'non-polluting' industries in Special Economic Zones, nuclear power plants, power generation by non-conventional energy sources, storage of petroleum products, fertilizers and  chemicals, large-scale housing projects and generous exemptions to tourism projects, NFF president Matanhy Saldanha said here.

Provisions in the draft notification would also marginalise the poor fishing community further and would even dislocate them from the land of their ancestors, he alleged.
