Disqualified BJP MLAs seek Cong leader's help

Last Updated 13 November 2010, 17:00 IST

Confirming that the former MLAs met him, Hariprasad told Deccan Herald: “It is true that they met me. They wanted to hire a legal luminary for their case since they will be appealing against the Karnataka High Court verdict which has upheld their disqualification”.

The former MLAs wanted the services of one of the legal luminaries among Harish Salve, K K Venugopal and K Parasaran. “I told the BJP leaders that I will help them out. On their own too, they are talking to the senior advocates,” Hariprasad said. He, however, ruled out the rebel former BJP MLAs joining Congress. “At the moment, the question does not arise as they are concentrating on fighting their case in the apex court.”

The 11 MLAs were disqualified following the High Court order which upheld the action of Karnataka Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah after they sought change in the leadership of chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.
