'Medical village' programme in GPs soon, says Ramdas

Emphasis on improving health care in rural areas

Addressing a gathering of the president and vice-presidents of grama panchayats, at a programme organised by the Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP) here, he said that to begin with, one grama panchayat will be selected from each and every assembly constituency in the district.

The programme would be implemented soon after the gram panchayat adopts a resolution regarding this programme.

The Minister said the programme entails to lay emphasis on health care among villagers. They would be taught lessons on good family health and also sensitise them on related subjects.

“The programme will be extended to other villages in a phased manner. It would also campaign on de-addiction from alcohol,” he added.

On the occasion, Forests Minister C H Vijayshankar called upon the panchayat leaders to steer BJP candidates to victory in the upcoming taluk and zilla panchayat elections. The meeting of the presidents and vice-presidents of the GP was convened to chalk out a strategy for the forthcoming panchayat elections.

BJP district unit president and MLC Siddaraju, secretary Mahendra, MYLAC chairman M V Ravishankar, Chairman of Karnataka Zoo Authority Nanjundaswamy and others were present.
