Model Kannada schools at 52 border taluks: Bellada

Emphasis will be given for establishing Samskruthika Bhavanas

Speaking at an official meeting on issues related to border areas at the Sudarshana Guest House here, he said that the language, art, literature and cultural activities will be boosted by constructing cultural centres at 52 border taluks in the State. The proposed Kannada model schools in border villages will cater development of Kannada language, he added.

Bellada said that he would visit 16 border districts in the State to hold discussions with the people’s representatives and officials with regard to the construction of cultural centres. Funds for the proposals will be released only after visiting 52 border taluks, he added.

In addition to language, literature and cultural activities, emphasis will also be given for the promotion of sports in the border areas.

Speaking on the occasion, MP H Vishwanath said that more libraries should be opened to promote Kannada language, literature and culture in border areas. The government funds should be utilised properly for the implementation of schemes, he suggested.

He said that the KBADA should co-ordinate with officials of Finance, Law and other Ministries for the implementation of development works in border areas.

MLA M P Appachuranjan demanded that more funds should be sanctioned for the development of roads as well as for education.

MLC S G Medappa suggested that Sports Schools should be opened in border regions to promote sports.

District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President T P Ramesh said that the problem of shortage of teachers should be sorted out for the reformation of education sector in border areas. Schemes should be chalked out to teach Kannada to non-Kannadigas in the border areas, he added.

Sub Division Officer Akram Pasha, District Superintendent of Police J D Prakash, Zilla Panchayat Planning Officer Motappa, Tahsildar Giriappa, Kannada and Culture Department Assistant Director Damodar and Special Officer to KBADA Sangamesh were present.
