Last Updated 20 November 2010, 18:16 IST

A joint team of Revenue, Mines and Geology and Police departments swooped down on the stone quarries at survey 351 in the forest coming under T M Hosur Gram Panchayat limits, and seized nine stone crushers.

It was found that stone crushing was being carried out on a non-alienated land without obtaining mandatory sanctions from the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board.
Power connection had been obtained based on the licence issued by the Gram Panchayat. Two pump sets and LPG cylinders were also seized from the spot.

No licence from forest dept

Criminal cases will be registered against the persons involved, Tahsildar Arul Kumar said. The Forest Department has not granted licence to anyone for quarrying.
The Revenue Department has been urged to carry out a survey and fix the boundaries, Range Forest Officer Devaraju told Deccan Herald.
