The prime minister, who is being cornered by the Opposition with their demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee to inquire into the 2G spectrum scam, and Yeddyurappa, facing corruption charges, also discussed the issues concerning  Karnataka.

The two met as the prime minister acceded to Yeddyurappa’s request to fly with him to Delhi from Puttaparthi, where the two leaders participated in the 85th birthday celebrations of Satya Sai Baba.

Yeddyurappa, who had a special private meeting with Satya Sai Baba, was to be present in the capital as he was summoned by the party high command. As there was no direct flight to Delhi, he requested the prime minister who readily agreed.

As his security personnel insisted that only the chief minister should be allowed to accompany him, he took his luggage and boarded the special aircraft. He told his staff to reach Delhi via Bangalore .

After the special flight was airborne, the Singh called the chief minister to his executive cabin in aircraft. In a brief chat, Yeddyurappa is understood to have told Singh about the corruption charges against him. He discussed other state-related issues.

When newsmen asked Yeddyurappa whether travelling with the prime minister was a signal to his party top brass, which is demanding him to step down, Yeddyurappa quipped: “It was a sheer coincidence as both of us were in Puttaparthi. I requested him to accompany him and he readily agreed,” he said.
