'Threat of govt's fall saved Yeddyurappa'

Last Updated 24 November 2010, 15:50 IST

Yeddyurappa maintained a defiant posture with the party's top brass who had reportedly asked him to put in his papers, to save the embarrassment to the party caused by his alleged acts of nepotism, favouritism and land scams, the sources said. The campaign launched by BJP MPs favouring continuance of Yeddyurappa was another factor that forced the party to accept his continuance.

Yeddyurappa also reportedly told the party leadership that there can be no successor to him and he has to continue.
