Speaking during his maiden visit to the city after being elected as the State Minority Commission Chairman here on Saturday, he said that Congress and JD(S) has been trying to project BJP as communal party for the last 60 years and tried to keep Christains and Muslims away from BJP.

“Yeddyurppa had earmarked Rs 150 crore for the welfare of minorities when Kumaraswamy was the Chief Minister. The party workers need not worry that new comers are entertained in the party,” he added.

He said that he will work for the progress and prosperity of minorities who are struggling in the grass root-level.

‘Educate children’

He urged the women from Muslim community to educate their children. “There was a notion that people from Muslim community are not making a mark in the election has been changed gradually with many from the community being elected in the election.

In the recently held Bihar election, 27 seats were won by Muslim members indicating the changing system,” he said.

BJP General Secretary Srikar Prabhu presided over the function. Hundreds of minority community members from across the district had assembled in the BJP office to greet the newly elected chairman.
