Rogue tusker creates panic

The tusker was seen in the early morning. The rogue elephant had already destroyed standing crops in Nagavedi, Doddaghatta villages. Several coconut trees have been damaged in these villages and surrounding places.

Though, tusker had returned to the forest area via G Shankaranahalli, it has arrived near Chikkodihalli via Sathanagere, Kannakatte and Dibbur villages. The elephant has destroyed standing crops in all these villages.

Hundreds of villagers from in and around Chikkondihalli lake surrounded the lake bund to watch the tusker. Acting on a tip off, ACF of Channarayapatna division Girish and forest officer Jayannachar and forest guards arrived on the spot.

Girish told Deccan Herald that the tusker would be chased to forest till evening, if the people cooperated with the forest personnel by keeping distance from the lake and the elephant.
