Raghuveer, a student of CKS school in Buvanahalli is the victim. He along and with his friends had gone to the lake to swim.

According to eyewitnesses, the boys played cricket for sometime before entering the lake. Raghuveer was novice to swimming but was reportedly insisted by his friends to join him. He jumped into the lake but never came out.

Police have booked a case.

Woman dies

A woman was killed in a hit and run case when a speeding car mowed her down near B M bypass, on Friday evening. The deceased is identified as Lakshmamma(50).

The woman, who was crossing the bypass, was hit by a car that was coming from Bangalore side. Lakshmamma died while on the way to hospital.

Police have booked a case and are investigating.

Duo robbed

Two persons were robbed by some miscreants near Satyamangala Cross in the City on Saturday.

Harshavardhana and his relative Madan V Raj, a native of Nelamangala in Bangalore got down in the city and were walking towards the Sathyamangala cross when they were waylaid by miscreants. The thieves hit them on the head and robbed them of  `  8,000 cash, police said.

The miscreants posed themselves as the cops and robbed them.

Kerosene seized

The police have arrested a person and seized about 300 litres kerosene meant for public distribution from him.

Acting on a tip off, the city police arrested Salim. He was transporting the kerosene in nine barrels. The PDS kerosene was being sold in black market, police said. The accused arrested near Deviramma fair price shop in Kuvempunagar.

Man killed 

In a hit and run case, an aged person was killed on the spot after he was hit by a speeding scooter near Chikkahole checkpost in Chamarajanagar on Sunday.

N Chinnumutthu(65) is the deceased. He was was returning to his farm house on the outskirts of city, when the incident took place. He suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot.

Ramasamudra police have booked a case.

Liquor seized

Acting on a tip off, the Badanavalu police have arrested a youth who was illegally transporting liquor in Suttur near here on Sunday.

Thimma, a native of Nandagundapura of taluk is the accused. He was transporting about 24 bottles of whisky in a bus when the police arrested him. The accused is sent to judicial custody.
