Begaum Jaan was arrested in 2007 for allegedly selling ganja and was also imprisoned, police added.<br /><br />Gang war thwarted<br /><br />The Basaveshwarnagar police thwarted a possible gang war and arrested five persons on Sunday. The suspects were Prashanth, Sunil, Venkatesh Murthy, Devaraj and Byregowda. The police recovered a four- wheeler, four mobile phones and lethal weapons from them.<br /><br />On a tip-off, the police surrounded a four-wheeler in which the suspects were discussing modus operandi to attack members of their rival gang near Ravi English Medium School at Kurubarahalli. <br /><br />There were 10 persons in the vehicle. However, five of them managed to escape.
