Two arrested for selling ganja

Acting on a tip-off, Munna and Begaum Jaan were picked up from fromSingaiahanapalya.
Munna, who came to Bangalore from Bihar eight years ago, was running a beedi shop near T G N Complex in Singaiahanapalya.

He would buy the ganja from Begum Jaan of Cottonpet and would sell them to college students and factory workers. She used to sell ganja for other important persons in the City, said the sleuths.

Her sons Isran Ullah, Inayat Ulla, Jamshadulla and Jibran were arrested for the same
offence and were sent to prisons.  Begaum Jaan was arrested in 2007 for allegedly selling ganja and was also imprisoned, police added.

Gang war thwarted

The Basaveshwarnagar police thwarted a possible gang war and arrested five persons on Sunday.  The suspects were Prashanth, Sunil, Venkatesh Murthy, Devaraj and Byregowda. The police recovered a four- wheeler, four mobile phones and lethal weapons from them.

On a tip-off, the police surrounded a four-wheeler in which the suspects were discussing modus operandi to attack members of their rival gang near Ravi English Medium School at Kurubarahalli.

There were 10 persons in the vehicle. However, five of them managed to escape. They were also planning to commit dacoity and eliminate their rivals near Ring Road.
Prashanth, Sunil and Venkatesh Murthy are involved in murders, attempts to murder and extortion cases. added the police.
