As many as 7,000 students from each college under Christ University take part in more than 23 events. The winners get to participate in Darpan which is the inter-collegiate fest. Held over a month, the events at Blossoms are divided into four categories — Art, Theatre, Stage and Literary. “The objective is to expose all students irrespective of their stream to the world of culture. In the process, we teachers too get to know the students a little better,” says Veda, a lecturer in the MBA department.

Art events range from painting and rangoli making to pot painting; theatre events comprise mime, street theatre and dramas; literary events challenge the mind with essays, poetry writing etc. The most popular events are however the stage items which include singing, instrumental and dancing events.

“This is where we actually get to see a lot of talent. There are so many students who sit quietly all year long and suddenly, they bloom into wonderful singers and dancers, which is so nice to see,” adds Veda.

The entire college wears a festive look with colourful posters and even the pathways are painted with little flowers to let every visitor and student know that the fest has started. Every year, one of the streams takes up responsibility for the decorations and this year, it was given to the Christ University Institute of Management.

“Since our stream performed really well last year, we were given the responsibility this year. We have gone all out and made interesting rangolis and statues to represent the fest. And to motivate our batch, we put in the theme Beyond Imagination which has pushed us to think outside the box,” says Prateek, an MBA student.

Interestingly, each deanery is so secretive about their performance that till the last day, no one knows who the finalists are. With a tagline like Be the Best, the students are making sure they leave no stone unturned. “At one point, we see the entire college come together and at the same time, we are competing with each other. So we are making sure only the best of the best reach the finals,” says Abhisheg, another MBA student.

The fest will end in December wherein the students will aim for the main trophy for Artistic Excellence and Service.
