'Agri -technological innovations must help farmers'

Ryots advised to stop migrating to cities in search of jobs

The technology must increase productivity and should bring good remuneration for farmers and help them eke out a decent living.He was speaking after inaugurating Agricultural technological week celebrations organised jointly by Department of Agriculture, Horticulture and Kandali Krishi Vignan Kendra in Hassan on Thursday. 

He wanted all agricultural scientists to take their innovations and developments to the doorstep of the people. The farmers must adopt the use of modern technology in farming.He lauded the services of Kandali Krishi Vignana Kendra for popularising agricultural innovations.

Presiding over the function, Dean, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, Dr M A Shankar said that conservation of water and soil is very important for all farmers. The ryots must stop migrating to cities. Farming offers much more sustained lifestyle as against any other job.

Speaking after releasing a handbook brought out by Kandali Krishi Vignana Kendra  on the same occasion,Joint-Director of Agriculture B Shivaraj told that about 80 per cent of the women are engaged in agricultural profession in the nation.

Mangala Non-Governmental Organisation chief Niranjankumar, Canara Bank Manager G N Inamdar, University of Agricultural Sciences Professor G S Nagaraj delivered a lecture on various topics related to agricultural technological advancements. An exhibition of various technological developments was organised on the occasion. An interaction programme for farmers with eminent agricultural scientists was also held as part of the function.

Agricultural Extension Officer, Canara Bank C S Ravi,  Kandali Krishi Viganana Kendra Chief  Dr O R Nataraj, Dr Basavaraj, Dr K H Nagaraj, Dr M S Nagaraj, Dr B S Lalitha, Dr A C Girish Hemalatha, Kantharaju and others were present.
