M'lore varsity selected for PURSE

Accordingly, the university will receive support of Rs 9 crore for three years. Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, he said based on the studies carried out by the National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies (NISTADS) , New Delhi, in the current year using SCOPUS database on publications output for the period 1998-2008, the department of Science and Technology has decided to support 29 universities in the country by providing incentive grant under PURSE programme.

The funds should be utilised for carrying out research activities in the science departments, purchasing equipment, networking and computation facility and so on.

An implementation committee has been constituted in the university, which has conducted preliminary meeting on the PURSE.

The proposal will be sent to the authorities and the funds will be released at the earliest, he added.

Encroachment

To a query on the encroachment of University land by the public, the VC said that the Executive Engineer has been directed to conduct a survey on the university land in Konaje. In case of necessity, police force will be used for recovering the land.  As per KSU Act, in case of any encroachment of land belonging to University, then government will get it vacated.

Holidays

He said that the semester will reopen on December 20 for all the undergraduate and post-graduate courses. However, the Christmas holiday will be in force from December 24 to 31.
