The initiative has been approved under an innovative programme called ‘Chinnara Zilla Darshana’, a free educational tour programme of SSA.

Each camp, to be conducted in collaboration with the General Thimmaiah National Academy of Adventure, will cover 50 students. Camps will be held in Ramanagara, Badami in Bagalkot, Kondajji in Hassan and Vani Vilas Sagar in Chitradurga this month or the next month.

Besides, SSA will set up ‘Chinnara Tangudhama’, a transit home for educationally deprived and destitute children.

Children habituated to drinking, smoking, theft and drop-outs from school will be accommodated.

The homes will be operational round the clock and the staff will include field volunteers, counsellors, doctors, teachers, cooks, wardens, and maintenance staff.

Once children get accustomed to the centre, they will be counselled. Four non-governmental organisations –– Don Bosco, Paraspara, Sparsha and Association for Promotion of Social Action (APSA), which will be th7e nodal NGO, will together establish five transit homes.
