After the completion of closing ceremony, the organisers realised the goof-up after actual champions Kerala protested the decision, and asked for Haryana team captain Arpinder Singh to return the trophy.
In spite of repeated announcements, no one turned up with the trophy. In fact, the Haryana coach also joined the officials in requesting the athlete to return with the trophy to the dais. For 15 minutes or so, the drama went on. Hours later, the officials claimed that they got the trophy back from the Haryana team, and handed it over to the Kerala outfit.
