He was speaking after inaugurating the 78th Sarvadharma Sammelana organised as part of the Lakshadeepotsava at Sri Kshetra Dharmastala here on Saturday. “Religion should not be used to construct a wall of hatred and jealousy in the society.  All religions advocate truth, peace and non-violence,” Justice Patel said. Children too are the asset of the nation.

Parents and teachers should shape children into good citizens for the future, he added.
He lauded the justice delivery system of the temple and said, “caste system, crime, corruption and other menaces attack the nation like cancer. Youth should inculcate honesty and serve responsibly to bring transformation in the society.”

The Sri Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Programme (SKDRDP) has realised the dreams of the villagers. The SKDRDP has become a role model for the entire nation that the Central government itself has sought guidelines from Veerendra Heggade, he added.

In his address, Heggade said that one can attain ‘Moksha’ only if values of Dharma were inculcated in life. “Life can be made balanced by controlling all types of desires. Harmonious life can be led by combining love and affection. Words should be put into action and there should not be difference between words and actions,” he added.

Delivering the presidential address, Seer from Haryana Swamy Avadheshananda Giri Maharaj said that the base of religion is rational thinking, transparency and honesty.

“Dharma puts an end to greed in man and offers peace and health. Dharma is nothing but living wholeheartedly and letting others leave peacefully,” he added.

Puttur Moulavi U K Abdul Azeez Darimi, Bellary Bishop Fr Henry D’Souza and Retired College Principal P Anantharaja Indra delivered talks.

Lakshadeepotsava will be celebrated at the Sri Kshetra Dharmastala with pomp and geity on December 5. More than lakh devotees are expected to participate in the festivities.
