The venue (Ramlila ground) was where Lord Rama and Sita must have got married hundreds of times (during the act) and the same must have been witnessed by thousands of people but what the people witnessed on Tuesday night was something altogether different.

Gurgaon-based software engineer Dev Varun, the groom and Juhi, the bride chose to exchange “jaimala” (garland) from two trolley cars hanging from a ropeway much to surprise of the guests and onlookers.

While one trolley car took Dev, the other carrying Jushi headed towards each other carrying garlands. For a few minutes the activities on the ground came to a halt as all eyes looked up towards the sky.

As the two cars came within touching distance the couple exchanged the garlands from their respective trolley cars amid a loud cheer from the people on the ground.
The father of the groom Mangal Deo Tripathi, a government employee, had got the idea of performing his son's marriage on the ropeway after visiting Hardwar. ``I wanted to make his marriage a memorable event'', Tripathi said. After returning from his trip, Tripathi started making preparataions for the wedding. He consulted people from the Uttar Pradesh Sky Aero Sports for implementing his idea.

A 100-metre long ropeway was prepared with an expenditure of Rs 1  lakh, he said.
It was not without risks, said those associated with making the arrangements. One end of the rope was tied to a pole, which was very close to an electric pole.

The two trolley cars also came too close to each other at the time of exchanging of garlands and they had to be supported by the people from the ground to make them steady.

But then no adventure is without risks and all's well that ends well.
