Govt to fill up vacancies in fire services dept soon

Speaking after laying the foundation for the construction of the fire station at a cost of ` one crore here on Saturday, he said 98 per cent of the jobs had been given for Kannadigas in Transport Department. A similar step would be taken in the Department of Home Guards and fire services too. A lot of reforms have been initiated in transport department because of which it is now in profit. “My intention is to make Karnataka police a model in the nation soon”, he added.

Ashoka said the government had released ` one crore for the improvement of the historic Venkataramanaswamy temple at Karighatta in the taluk. A meeting of elected representatives and officers would be convened soon to prepare a blueprint for development of the district. Priority would be given for irrigation and improvement of roads.

Additional Director General of Police (Home Guards) Jeeja Harisingh said ` three crore is required to build houses for the personnel of Fire Force in the taluk. The works on the construction of 46 fire stations and quarters for 772 employees, are under progress.
MLAs Ramesh Bandisiddegowda, K B Chandrashekhar, Ashwathnarayan and others were present.
