Chandrashekaraiah, president and M N Harshavardhan, general secretary of the Mysore Mahanagara Palike Guttigedarara Sangha said the MCC has not cleared a single bill for the last one year.

Delay

As of now, the corporation owes ` 37 crore to the contractors. Due to delay in payment, banks and financial companies were pressurising them to make payment immediately.
This has put the contractors in a quandary.

Even the suppliers of steel, cement and other construction materials were forcing them to clear the dues. They were being put into lot of mental harassment.

No results

They said several memoranda submitted to the mayor and the commissioner have not yielded any results.

The assurances given by them while staging a demonstration in front of the corporation recently, have not been kept up.  It is inevitable for them to stop undertaking any work pertaining to the MCC and the Vani Vilasa Water Works from Monday till the bills are cleared. No contractor would execute the works such as road, UGD, drain and bridge and also emergency works as long as their demand was not fulfiled by the authorities concerned.

The leaders wanted the mayor to address their grievances and direct the authorities concerned to immediately clear all the pending bills of the contractors before the situation goes out of control.
