Three held for torturing minor boy

The incident, which had occurred two days ago in Cuttack, came to light after a college girl shot the torture scene on her mobile phone and gave it for airing in local news channels.
The footage triggered a statewide uproar. A lawyer of the Orissa High Court had moved a PIL in the court demanding immediate arrest of the men involved in the case.

Following this, the High Court asked the DCP, Cuttack, to investigate the case and file a report in the court.

Responding to the police report, the High Court on Friday asked the state government to provide legal help to the boy and his family besides security to them as well as to the girl who had shot the torture scenes. The court also directed the Cuttack district administration to rehabilitate the boy, son of a slum dweller and alleged to be a drug addict.

The state government is contemplating felicitating the college girl for her act. “The girl must be awarded for her presence of mind,” state Revenue Minister Surya Narayan Patra said.
