The activists of the Madiga Dandora staged a dharna in front of the government hospital in Chintamani alleging the death of a girl due to the negligence and apathy of doctors, on Wednesday.

The deceased girl identified as Roja (13) was a resident of Doddagunjuru village in the taluk. The girl was bitten by a scorpio on Tuesday night and was immediately rushed to the government hospital.

Malamma, mother of the girl, in her complaint has alleged that doctor on duty didn’t attend to her daughter immediately and instead asked her to bring medicines from outside. Later, the doctor callously gave instructions to health assistant.

The parents of the deceased girl under the leadership of Madiga Dandora staged a dharna in front of the hospital and demanded suitable relief.

Tahsildar Nagaraj and City Police station Sub-Inspector Venkatesh who visited the spot assured them of legal action against the culprits. The protesters later withdrew the protest. The protest was led by Ramappa and P V Venkataramanappa of Dandora.

Doctor’s version

However, the doctors at the hospital have refuted the charges levelled by the girl’s parents. The doctors stated that Roja was treated and there was no negligence or apathy on the part of the doctor.

But due to the non availability of the injection the parents of the girl were asked to get the medicine from outside, they added.
