Hyderabad, who were struggling at 167 for seven overnight in reply to Karnataka’s total of 396, failed to lift themselves up, collapsing to a huge loss with a day to spare.

Number nine batsman Vishwajit Patnaik scored a defiant 40 putting up a brief resistance with Shanbaaz Tumbi, who remained unbeaten on 74.

But with no other batsman showing stomach for fight, the visitors folded up for 203 off 76 overs. Trailing by 193 runs, Hyderabad were asked to follow on and their batting just went from bad to worse.

Against some relentless pressure from the Karnataka bowlers, the visitors crumbled to a dismal 150 all out.

Suchith J picked up three for 54 while Ronit More, Parappa Mordi and Samrath R shared two wickets apiece in an all-round bowling show.

Brief scores: Karnataka: 396 all out in 118.5 overs bt Hyderabad (O/n: 169/7 in 61 overs): 203 all out in 76 overs (Ashrith D 34, Shahbaaz Tumbi 74 n.o., Vishwajit Patnaik 40; Parappa Mordi 3-37, Anil IG 2-45) and 150 all out in 34 overs (Syed Ali 49; Ronit More 2-44, Parappa Mordi 2-16, Suchith J 3-54, Samrath R 2-24).
