The scheme aims to provide businesses help develop cost-effective solutions to business problems.

A lecture by MSME Design Clinic Scheme-Regional Centre, Head-South Zone, Prof T V P Chowdry was arranged by Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry to discuss the advantages of MSME Design Clinic Scheme Implementation Methodology.

Second largest employer

With MSME sector being the largest employer after agriculture, Prof Chowdry said that there is a need to develop industrial clusters in the country so that the country can face the competition across the globe.

Prof T V P Chowdry said that earlier, small scale industries had protection from tariff regulations, however, these days it is not the case. Also, due to globalisation and threat from China, which can afford to sell products at a lower price, your competition could be from any place across the world.

Just a click away!

Businesses are just a click away and can global much easily than earlier, he added.
Expressing the importance of design in a product, Prof Chowdry said that designs need to be taken based on the preference and perception of the customers.

Citing an example, he said that a firm in Boston, USA, interviews children to know about the next generation trends that are going to take place.

Prof Chowdry said that the initial design phase is the weak link for businesses here. But, with a well designed product and thought given to the entire life-cycle of the product, the unlimited opportunities can be explored.
