<p>Mishra, a former IAS officer of 1973 batch, Madhya Pradesh cadre, is likely to take charge as Chief Information Commissioner on December 20, official sources said.<br />Tiwari's term as CIC expires on December 19.<br /><br />The decision to appoint 61-year old Mishra who was former Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training, was taken at a meeting of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj and Law Minister Veerappa Moily.<br /><br />"There is no official communication. I have come to know about the development through media," Mishra said. He refused to comment any further on his future responsibility saying he can only make a statement after a notification is issued in this regard.<br /><br />Tiwari was appointed as Chief Information Commissioner on September 29 after Wajahat Habibullah's five-year term as head of the transparency panel ended.</p>
