District administration to act strict on poll code violations

Presiding over a meeting held here he said, the political parties, which wish to take out procession or to conduct the meeting, have to take permission from the respective electoral officers one day in advance.

The mike and the band set should be used strictly between 7 am and 9 pm only.

Seize materials

He directed the department of police to seize the materials if they found to be violating the poll conduct.

A meeting of leaders of all political parties should be convened even in taluk levels to explain them regarding the poll code. Stern action would be taken on those who violate the rules, he warned.

No shandies

The Deputy Commissioner also disclosed that discussions would be held with the Superintendent of Police to decide whether to cancel the ‘santhe’ between December 23 and 30 in view of maintaining peace.

The district and taluk teams would travel in their limits to know the happenings and take suitable steps, the DC added.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Subramanyam, Deputy Conservator of Forests and Chief of Pollcode Enforcement Committee Ambadi Madhavan, Assistant Commissioner Nagaraju and Sakleshpur Assistant Commissioner K Nagendra Prasad, police officers Channabasappa, Girijesh and others were present.

Nominations

Two independent candidates filed their nomination papers for the Hassan Taluk Panchayat on Tuesday.

There are 25 taluk panchayat constituencies in Hassan taluk and one election officer has been appointed for every five hoblis.

This is the first time the Electronic Voting Machines are being used in TP/ZP  elections in the State. An employee from BEL had examined all the EVMs that are dispatched to the district.

 An election officer of the taluk panchayat said that all poll related works were completed as per rules.
