The reason: lack of an auspicious date and hour.

Waiting for the hour

On Wednesday, leaders, member and candidates from various parties offered special poojas at temples, learnt of the best hour and submitted their nominations.

The Rahukala on Wednesday is from 12 pm to 1.30 pm. This gave a breather to the election officers as well as police staff.

But post 1.30 pm, almost suddenly, all candidates came to the election office, making even entry into the office difficult.

The candidates too could not submit their papers to the officers quickly.

Candidates belonging to the Congress party came in to submit their papers at around 12 pm.

The BJP and JD(S) candidates submitted their nominations after 1.30 pm.

Restless wait

In Mulbagal, the candidates from various parties and their supporters waited restlessly at the Anjaneyaswamy Temple during the one-and-a-half hours of the Rahukala period, when the doors of the office were shut to candidates.
