Absent from poll duty: DC suspends 8 officials

In a press release here, the DC said the suspended officials are, Sunilkumar, K T Mohankumar, P M Shivakumar, D S Girish, D Jayanna, Vedamurthy, S K Mahesh and Yatish.

A meeting of officials was convened recently to identify sensitive, hyper-sensitive booths, numbering of EVMs and other poll related works. However, eight officials were absent for that meeting. Subsequently, they were issued show cause notice but the notices were not being served as they were out of town. In the wake of this, the DC has suspended them.

According to sources, all of them had gone to Sabarimalai shrine without applying leave for five days. Although, they had requested their higher-ups to grant leave, their request had been turned down following TP/ZP polls. Despite instructions, they had gone on leave for five days.
