His latest projects, Dhan Dhana Dhan and Kettavanu will see him playing two extremely different characters. And with that, Prem is ready to prove that he is open to all kinds of experiments. While the Lovely Star is foreseeing a great time ahead with good projects, he spoke to Metrolife about his upcoming films.

The actor is playing a full-fledged comedy-oriented character in Dhan Dhana Dhan, which is directed by Vasu. Produced by Nargis Babu and his son Kumar, the movie is inspired by the Bollywood film Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin. “Though Dhan Dhana Dhan is inspired by Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin, it’s not a remake. We have altered some sequences and the screenplay,” he clarifies. “It’s the first time that I am doing a comic role like this and I assure that there will be no dearth of humour. The film will be shot from January on a stretch of 35 days,” he says.

Prem has seen Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahin several times to work on his his body language and dialogue delivery skills as the script demanded. Earlier, Parvathy Menon was roped in to play the leading lady. However, she could not play the role because of date problems. Now, the search for the heroine is on. Anant Nag and Rangayana Raghu are the others in the cast.

The soft-spoken actor is busy with another movie, Kettavanu. Directed by Priya, a gold medallist from the Film and Television Institute, Pune, the movie is produced by Ravindra under the banner Picturegate Productions Ltd. Prem doesn’t want to reveal much about his character in the movie. “For the first time, I am acting in a film with a script based on rowdyism and I will be sporting an entirely new look for the character. The shooting is scheduled to begin from the last week of January,” he informs.

Though Prem is experimenting with each role, none of his projects have been successful like his debut Nenapirali or Jothe Jotheyali. Ask him why and he says, “It doesn’t mean that only my films are flops. All the stars in the industry are facing this problem. None of them have succeeded to give hits all the time. It’s common in an artiste’s life to have ups and downs,” he defends. However, he has big expectations from both the projects and assures that both will be complete family entertainers.
