IGP ASN Murthy promises fool-proof security

At a news conference here on Sunday, he said the police personnel were actively involved in crime prevention, crime detection and maintenance of law and order. Steps have been taken to strengthen the beat system. Security has been provided to all the vital installations in the district. The services of Home Guards, KSRP, District Armed Reserve Police would be utilised in the coming polls. Eight posts of police sub-inspectors are vacant in the district and it would be filled up after the elections.

No leave

The IGP said no leave is being sanctioned to police personnel till the elections. It was true that they have to work under tremendous work pressure without holiday. But the department had taken steps to improve the health of its staff.

Explaining police-friendly measures being initiated in the department, he said the construction of police quarters in the city is in final stages and it would be ready within three months. Strict warning has been issued to contractors to maintain quality in the construction works and bills would not be cleared if the works are found to be of poor quality. The department has spent Rs 16 lakh on the renovation of the old quarters in police colony.

On autorickshaws using adulterated petrol in the city, Murthy said a meeting of the deputy commissioner, Regional Transport Department  and Superintendent of Police would be convened to end this menace.

Superintendent of Police K V Sharathchandra, Additional Superintendent of Police K Yallappa and others were present.
