Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah, told press persons on Monday that Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa in his reply to the Governor’s letter had defended his ministers. He had said none of his ministers were into illegal mining.

“If so, why should he hesitate to hand over the inquiry to CBI,” he questioned. Further, he alleged that the BJP had been distributing cash to woo voters in the rural local body elections.

The party had been spending money, which it earned through illegal denotification of land and illegal mining.

Deve Gowda reacts

JD(S) chief H D Deve Gowda has, on Monday, reacted sharply to Yeddyurappa’s reply to the Governor on the land scam saying “no thief ever admits his or her crime”.

Speaking to reporters, he said Yeddyurappa was a shameless chief minister. Though all his misdeeds have been exposed with documentary evidences, he has informed the Governor that the charges against him were baseless.

People in every nook and corner talk about Yeddyurappa’s involvement in land scam. Majority of them want the government to be thrown out. But, unfortunately, Yeddyurappa is pretending as if nothing has happened, he added.
