CII project to mentor SMEs

The project launch has been tentatively scheduled for July 25 with nearly 14 SMEs from the Jigani - Bommasandra area already confirming their participation in the training programme. An additional 12 SMEs will soon come on board to undergo the training with just the formalities left to be thrashed out.

P Girish, the Principal counsellor and Head of the CII Institute of Quality said, “The Foundation for Profitability is a training initiative of CII, Karnataka for SMEs who want to grow. This training will provide guidance to SMEs, who want to grow but do not quite have the required expertise.”

Entrepreneurs, who run these small and medium industries, will be provided training on topics such as markets and market development, operations and supply chain management, financing and accounts, human resources and statutory compliances, and technology and innovation. The training will emphasise on the long-term in each of the subjects with the focus being firmly on growth.

It will be a year-long course, which has been divided into different levels. Level One of the training programme will be a three month foundation programme, which will feature a minimum of three to five sessions. The foundation programme will cost Rs 5,000 for each participant. Subsequent levels of the training will be to explore the topic in more detail. The training programme will be extended to other parts of the State and other states depending upon the success of this project.
