'Bopaiah behind violent scenes'

Last Updated 22 December 2010, 16:44 IST

Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, he said Bopaiah has misused his power and should tender resignation before indulging in ‘politics.’

He said “Bopaiah has played a major role in persuading the BJP workers to indulge in unlawful activities during the election.”

“Owing to the involvement of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, Home Minister R Ashok, and Assembly Speaker, there was utter chaos in the CMC. The powers have been completely misused. Hence, even the police remained mute spectators during the violence, which took place in the CMC venue,” he alleged. “The district administration was well informed of the plans of the BJP workers. Hence, it had deployed 150 to 200 police personnel.

A situation wherein a MP and MLCs could not enter the CMC was created by the BJP. Even after the incident, the DC and SP did not visit the spot,” he added. He alleged that the BJP has made the whole democratic process into pieces.

The MLC termed the incident as a murder of the democracy. “BJP members have forced the authorities to postpone the election. The police system has failed in the district. There was no one to provide security to the Legislators.”
