Palike Commissioner Siddaiah has directed all the zonal chiefs to collect Ground Rent from those who have littered construction material on the road, even after six months of getting the building plan sanctioned.

The Palike levies Ground Rent for a period of six months on property owners who are getting their building constructed, at the time of sanctioning the building plan. But in many cases, the building construction goes beyond the six-month period and the construction material are still littered on the road. The Palike considers this littering of material on the road beyond the six-months period, as loss of revenue.

Thus, as per the new directions, such property owners are still required to pay the Ground Rent to the Palike.

The direction came when Siddaiah visited Bommanahalli zone to inspect progress of various development works being implemented.

Commissioner annoyed

Siddaiah was annoyed that at many places construction material were littered on the roads. He directed the executive and assistant executive engineers to keep an eye on those buildings whose construction is incomplete even after six months of approving the building plan and the building owners have not cleared the construction material from the roads. He directed the officials to collect Ground Rent from such building owners.

Violaters to be penalised

Siddaiah also asked the zonal chiefs to check those who dig the road, more than the sanctioned extent. If firms or individuals have violated the permitted extent, then they will be penalised.

The BBMP commissioner also reviewed the status of survey of properties in Bommanahalli. He was told that the Bommanahalli zone has 1.82 lakh properties, of which 1.78 lakh properties have so far been surveyed and the remaining properties would be surveyed shortly.
